Culminating Project

As a graduation requirement, each Columbia High School student will complete a Culminating Senior Project requiring the student to demonstrate the ability to think analytically and logically, and to integrate experience and knowledge to form reasoned judgments and solve problems.  In addition, components of the Culminating Senior Project will require students to demonstrate their knowledge of the importance of work and how efforts and decisions affect career and educational opportunities.

The Culminating Project will consist of a Professional Development Portfolio that includes, but is not limited to, a student’s post-high school plan and examples of best work. The Project will also require students to participate in 30 hours of meaningful civic action (freshman through senior years) and to write an in-depth research analysis paper.  In addition, students will be required to complete a challenging product of their own design, through which they will gain deeper content knowledge and understanding.  The Culminating Senior Project will be completed during the senior year through a required presentation to a panel of judges.  In the presentation, students will be expected to demonstrate their personal learning, growth, and readiness for the future.  The presentation will bring together all elements of the Culminating Project, demonstrating that the student has achieved the learning goals set forth by the White Salmon Valley School District.

The most recent Senior Project packet, containing descriptions of each of the project elements, scoring guidelines, samples, and forms for keeping track of your work, is attached below. **Keep in mind that dates for deadlines shown will change depending on each year's calendar.**
